Job Description Volunteer Care Assistant
The Volunteer Care Assistant will report to the Volunteer Care Coordinator. The position will support the operations at the Grand Valley location as well providing assistance to the Coordinator, creating a vibrant culture that ensures volunteers are actively engaged in the mission and vision of the food bank.
Salary: $45,000 -$50,000 per annum 35 hours a week / Permanent, Full-Time
Hybrid Schedule: Four-day work week with occasional events that you can accrue lieu time for
100% Employer paid health and dental benefits.
12 days of Paid Vacation per year.
3% RRSP contribution annually

Job Responsibilities:
Volunteer Management:
Support volunteer communications including creation email updates and facilitating shift meetings, and occasional in person events such as food drives
Assist with training, scheduling and supervising volunteers
Support the organizations mission and values within the role
Participate and attend the execution of the volunteer recognition events
Support coordinator with volunteer recruitment, including tours, interviews, and other outreach activities
Scheduling:
Developing monthly schedules
Support shift coverage for vacations/absences
Updating volunteer scheduling portal
Maintain contact with volunteers regarding shift changes
Operations:
Support Client Services volunteers on shift as needed
Keep Safe Food Handling Current
Champion Health and Safety compliance, and report risks or concerns as prudent
Administration:
Collect volunteer information, availability and keep volunteer database up to date
Prepare and maintain all documents in relation to volunteer management, including annual compliance paperwork
Grand Valley Oversight
Program oversight on location in Grand Valley, including food bank and volunteer program and community partner office sharing programming
Facilities oversight including site upkeep and daily site services to maintain a clean and safe space
Communicating with facilities technician regarding facility needs, and warehouse and food management regarding inventory needs
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with food banks, social service organizations, or community-based nonprofits.
Experience with scheduling software is an asset
Valid License with a clean driving abstract
Experience with Microsoft applications
Familiarity with equity-centered approaches.
