
Are you passionate about gardening, community engagement & fresh food? Then, have we got a job for you! Working under the Food Manager, the successful candidates will assist the Food Bank in growing and preserving produce for our neighbours and community food share partners.
Duties and Responsibilities- Work with existing volunteers to plant, water, weed and harvest community garden plots, record planting & harvest results, help break down and preserve harvest, promote fresh food donations at community events—additional tasks as required within the Food Bank.
Requirements: Currently enrolled in a secondary or post-secondary school, returning to studies in the fall of 2024. Available from June 24th, 2024, until August 23rd, 2024. Clear Criminal Reference Check with the vulnerable sector.
Knowledge & Skills: Confident gardening abilities. Sensitivity to and understanding of the experience of people with limited incomes. Strong customer service skills. Enthusiastic and outgoing - enjoy working with the public and community. Proven organizational skills, good communicator, punctual, ability to work with minimal supervision, as well as within a team, and light to medium lifting will be required.
Job Location: Orangeville Food Bank at 3 Commerce Road, Edelbrock Center at 30 Centre Street, and other locations as needed.
Working hours: This position is based on a 35-hour week. Flexible work hours are required to fulfill the position's obligations, and the Food Manager will determine weekly schedules. Weekends may be necessary for outreach functions and events to promote the Orangeville Food Bank. The salary for this position is $ 17.00 per hour—the deadline to apply is April 12th, 2024.
